Gingerbread
2 Cups - All Purpose Flour
1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
1-1/2 Tspns Ground Cloves
1-1/2 Tspns Ground Cinnamon
1 Tspn Ground Cardamom
Pinch of Salt
3/4 Cup Dark Molasses
7 Tspns Melted Butter
3 Large Eggs
2 ounces (1/3 rounded cup) Fresh Ginger (Peeled and Chopped Very Fine)
1-1/2 tspns Baking Soda
Pre-Heat Oven to 325 deg. F
Grease 10” (9” if deep) cake tin
Sift together, Flour, Sugar, Spices and Salt
Beat together, Molasses, Butter Eggs and Ginger
Stir in Dry Ingredients until just mixed
Dissolve Baking Soda in 3/4 Cup of Hot Water
Stir into Gingerbread Mixture and pour Mixture into pan.
Bake for 45 minutes until knife comes out clean.
Serve with warm Applesauce and chilled Whipped Cream
