In addition to being a compendium of suppliers and recognition for the best ones, I hope this list serves to highlight just how many sources are needed to build a home. Weekend visits to big-box retailers may give the uninitiated the idea that everything you need can be had at one central location. The truth is quite different. Some of the stores listed were chosen because they were one of the few or only sources for a certain product. And it should also be obvious that getting to all these suppliers involves much running (i.e. driving) around or time on line. There are a large number of solar suppliers reflecting the cottage industry nature of the business even 25-years on.
